Activity Materials/Instructions: CO2 - Too Much of a Good Thing

GirlTalk 2010, Ursuline Academy
Presenter: Susan Hovorka, Ph.D.

Senior Research Scientist, Gulf Coast Carbon Center, Bureau of Economic Geology, Jackson School of Geosciences, The University of Texas at Austin

Background: Dr. Hovorka conducts research to understand how fluids move through rocks. Currently she is conducting field experiments on the best way to predict and then validate predictions of what happens to CO2 injected underground to "put it back" after energy is extracted from fossil fuels. She received her B.S. from Earlham College and holds a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Geology from The University of Texas at Austin.
